A Week in Wales...Part One

We spent a week or so visiting the beautiful country of Wales with our first stop being a Hopkins family pig roast on the mountaintop farm...

Views from the farmhouse...

The gardens...

One of the younger members of the family, Tom, has a very busy butchery business using meat from his father's farm. Here he is serving the roast pig...

The farm also has lots of sheep which are everywhere going up the mountain road...

These sheep are marked with blue so they are identified as Pete's sheep...

There are also farm dogs including Scruff that received a lot of love from Owain...

Wales has a lot of castles so one of our few sunny afternoons we went to visit one...

Peaceful scenes along the way...

Up the hill we go...

Remains of the castle...

Lord Rhys and his sons owned a lot of this land so Rhys is surveying his ancient land...

And Pop is talking as usual...

So much to take in...

Loved the slowly flowing rivers...

More castles in the distance...

The fields are so green...

Checking out the weapons...

Along with castles there are grand estates...

With rare white cows...

And the towns that the owners of these grand estates ruled over can be seen in the valley below...

This part of Wales is fairly rural so roads are no more than laneways...

With very small villages...

And lots of pubs...

Still more still to see...
